Description
The Eggbutt French link bradoon is often favored by horses as the lack of palate pressure makes the bit more comfortable and relieves pressure on the horses bars. The French link bradoon is also very useful to use as snaffle bits for smaller heads or ponies, as they are basically a snaffle bit with a smaller ring. Eggbutt bradoons are attached to the slip head of the Weymouth bridle, and fit in the corners of the horses mouth with the Weymouth below. Generally the French link bradoon should be 1/4″ or 1/2″ bigger than the Weymouth/ normal bit size. If the loose ring French link bradoon is to be used as a snaffle on its own, the normal bit size should be purchased.
- French link lays across the horses tongue and bars
- Can be used in dressage competitions when used as a snaffle, or in the double where permitted
- Also ideal to use as a snaffle for ponies as the ring is smaller than a traditional loose ring snaffle
- Bit strength: fairly mild
